7 months!

Another month has flown by. Here are a few things that have changed in the last month. Hannah weighs 18 pounds! She's definitely a big girl. There's a boy at church who's 11 months old, and he only weighs 15 pounds, and her cousin Emery, who is 13 months old, is only a couple of pounds heavier than she is. She had an ear infection this month, and ever since, she has been a total Mommy's girl. I don't like it! Well, ok, maybe I like it a little... but I still would prefer it to be otherwise. She is getting very close to being able to crawl. She crawls around in circles and rocks on her hands and knees. I definitely think she'll get it this month. She is a pro at sitting up, but she still can't actually get herself there, which makes her really mad. But she's getting a lot closer to being able to do that, too. She almost gets herself up, and then she gets frustrated and gives up. This isn't really a new thing, but her favorite sound to make is the "motor boat" sound, which is terrible because she loves to do it right in your face and get spit all over you. Hannah knows her name and smiles when she hears it. This month has been a bit difficult with her being so sick, but she's typically a very even tempered, happy, easy going kid and we just love her to pieces!

Water Bug

Hannah is making a habit of falling in love with toys that none of her cousins wanted anything to do with. First it was the Johnny Jump Up and now it's a pool floaty. She already loves being in the hot tub, in fact it's one of her favorite things ever, and this just made her love it even more. She likes to lean forward and splash the water while chewing on the antennae. She loves the freedom of movement it gives her, letting her kick and turn and do whatever she wants, and I love that it lets her entertain herself. I do have to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't stick her face in the water, but besides that, she's really good and loves to play with the lights and bubbles. I'm really excited to take her swimming this summer, but I'm not sure what she'll think of cool water after playing in the hot tub. Hopefully she'll like it.

pacifiers

As you may remember, Hannah used to LOVE her frog pacifier. But sadly, she discovered her fingers and never went back. I have tried to get her to take a pacifier several times since then, but she won't suck on them at all. If she does anything with it, she chews on it, so I gave up. But a few days ago I decided that I would just be persistent and continue to give it to her in hopes of getting her to take it. Well, she's just a goof ball. She actually really likes her pacifiers, she just doesn't like to suck on them. She will sit and chew on them until the cows come home. Oh well, at least she's using them and not sucking on her fingers, right?

Little block head

My mom recently got Hannah one of those shape sorting toys. She's a little to young to really get what you're supposed to do with the shapes, but she sure loves playing with them anyway. And Dan loves them, too. He is constantly putting them on her head or on her nose. She's pretty funny about it; she will sometimes try to balance it, but mostly she will nod her head to get it off, and she thinks it's pretty funny when Daddy gives her a "piggy nose."

ear infections and being cute

Oh, the joys of parenting. Hannah has been really sick for the last week or two. It started with a stuffy nose, and not even a really bad one, that somehow turned into an ear infection, which then turned into a terrible cold that then moved into her chest and gave her a horrible wheezing cough. However, her temperature never got over 99, and since you can't get antibiotics with a low grade temp, we went to the health food store and have been using some herbal remedies. And thank goodness they're working! Yay for happier babies! She still has a cough, but she's not wheezing anymore and she's getting back to her old happy, playful self. The only bad thing is that for the last 3 or 4 nights, she has been waking up at 12 and 2, pretty much on the dot, and will be awake for about half an hour. It's so frustrating, especially since she's always been such a good sleeper. Anyway, Sunday was the first day she showed any signs of feeling better. She sat and played happily for a little while and was being super cute.

She has gotten really good at sitting up on her own, and she totally loves it. She's trying REALLY hard to figure out how to sit herself up, but  she hasn't figured it out yet. It's kind of funny to watch, actually. She has also started to babble the noises "mama" and "baba," which is probably partially due to the fact that Daddy taught her how to pop her lips, as you can see in this video. It's her new favorite thing to do and it's so cute. She cracks me up.

Car seat fun

These pictures are from several weeks ago, but they are so cute. She loves to sit backwards in her car seat.. little goofball. Happy Valentines day!
