Lucy Anne

On May 22, 2015 at 12:30 am we welcomed Lucy into our family. My water broke around 4:30 in the afternoon, after getting up from a nap. Labor started slowly after that. I mostly sat around on the couch watching TV since my contractions were 30-45 minutes apart at first. Dan came home and took the girls to my mom's house so I wouldn't be stressed out trying to deal with them. The contractions started to pick up pace and intensity around 7 pm. Around 11 they got really bad and we knew it was time to call in the cavalry. One of my midwives lived only 9 minutes away, so we had backup there pretty quickly. An hour later I knew we were in the home stretch and had them get me into the tub. From there things happened very quickly and after only two contractions of pushing, our sweet little angel was born. Side note- a student midwife had come with them to observe her first home birth. Afterward I heard them kind of apologizing to her because she didn't really get to see anything. Lol. It went super fast, so there wasn't a whole lot for her to observe. Anyway, the first thing I remember hearing when she was born was "Look at that double chin!" They couldn't stop talking about how cute and chubby she was. And that's pretty much been the theme of her life since then. She was 8 pounds, 14 inches and 21 and a half inches long. She took to nursing quickly and easily, even though she had a lip tie and a tongue tie just like her sisters. She is a very sweet, mild mannered baby and is a joy and a bright light in our family. We all love her so much and can't imagine our family without her.

A couple of days later, Dan's Grandma was able to come see her. Lucy took to GG right away and made her one happy lady!

Boy, am I behind!

I can't believe how long it's been and how much my life has changed since the last time I posted anything. I have so much to catch up on! First, here's a blitz of stuff that happened before Lucy was born. Painting eggs for Easter, Easter dresses, and going to a community carnival.

We didn't really do much for Clara's birthday, just some small stuff with family. This is her eating her birthday cupcake.

Oklahoma day 3

On the last day we drove up to the top of Mount Scott to check out the view and do some more rock climbing. Then we went to the parallel forest. The kids had a blast running around in the forest, playing hide and seek. At one point, Eric hid behind Dan. Apparently, it was the best hiding place ever. Hannah and Emily looked right at him like, 10 times before realizing he was there. Clara, on the other hand, found him right away and stood there trying to figure out what was wrong with the other two. We got to see some longhorns close up. I got within about thirty feet of them before turning back. The only thing between us was some underbrush. After that, we had a picnic lunch and headed home. Some other things we did over the weekend that I didn't get pictures of were seeing prairie dogs, seeing all of the bison and longhorns as we drove around the reserve, and this weird church called the Holy City, where they have recreated scenes from the life of Christ and put on a big pageant every Easter.

Emily taking off to "hide." Really, she just wanted to run as far as she could.

finding Eric with no problem

She had NO clue that he was right behind her when I took this. Lol.
