Backyard fun

Two weeks ago, we had our first taste of Fall when it only got up to 53 degrees! Brr! Hahaha. Ok, so it wasn't really that cold, but still. So we got Hannah bundled up and went to play outside. She had a blast. She had just recently discovered a love of slides a few days before at the park, and so this was the first time she really went down our slide. It was so funny to watch her learn to push herself down it and to see the look of joy on her face. The ground happened to be pretty damp that day, and so she also had her first taste of getting muddy.

This is how Hannah runs. She leans forward and charges. It cracks me up.

The Zoo!!! (Finally!!!)

This has been driving me crazy because our computer stopped letting me on to blogger again, and I've been waiting to do this post for a long time! So, A few weeks ago when we had one of our first days of nice weather, my Mom and I took Hannah to the Zoo. We had no idea what to expect from her, and I have to admit I was anticipating the worst. However, she did totally awesome! At first we were afraid to take her out of the stroller because we didn't think we would be able to get her back in, but she didn't mind at all. Near the end she would fuss for a second when we put her down, but no major tantrums. At first she didn't really understand what was going on, but she warmed up pretty quickly and would look at the animals. Her favorite animal was this wart hog-ish pig. I can't remember what it was called, and of course I didn't get a picture, but Hannah just watched it and laughed and laughed. Her favorite thing to look at, though, wasn't one of the Zoo animals. It was the other kids. All day long she was pointing and shouting "Baby!!" as loudly as she could.
Excited for the zoo, can't you tell?

Trying to get the monkey's attention

But he wasn't having any of it.

SO not impressed by the petting zoo. We couldn't even get close to the animals. It was a major bummer.

Near the back of the zoo, they have an "old west" town with shops and such and animals native to Texas. They also had this indoor play area which Hannah really wanted to play on, but most of the things were too tall for her to climb on. In this picture she just spotted the horse drawn carriage seen below.

Forward ho!

Chillin in the Wells Fargo wagon

We had such a great time! I can't wait to go back!

Singing in the rain

A few weeks ago, we had a wonderful rain storm here. This happens so seldom, that it's something to celebrate in my opinion. Rain is definitely the thing I miss the most about Virginia. Anyway, so I went outside to watch, listen to, and smell the rain. Shortly thereafter, Dan and Hannah come to join me and we sat and watched for a few minutes. Eventually I decided to go back inside, but Hannah was NOT having it. She stood and the back door and screamed and cried until Dan couldn't take it anymore. He put on his swim trunks and took her to play in the rain, and let me tell you, she thought it was the best thing EVER. I took a ton of pictures, and they were all so cute that I couldn't pick just a few, so here they are...

I love this one-look closely at Dan's feet

She decided to beat on her chest like Tarzan. I'm not quite sure why..

Trying to decide if she wants more or if she's too cold.

Hmm... maybe just a couple more minutes...
